Malaysia’s favorite chocolate malt drink

If you ask any Malaysian about Milo, they’ll say it’s their childhood chocolate malt drink. Milo has been heavily localized to Malaysians over the past 75 years and proudly produced in Malaysia, making it deeply ingrained locally despite its origins in Australia.

From product innovation to strategic partnerships and on-ground activations, I help manage the Milo can, bottle, and carton range, driving its legacy as Malaysia’s most nostalgic brand while making a meaningful impact in the community.

Educating Malaysians on the good of recycling

Along with the day-to-day tasks of managing the product range, a unique project I worked on falls under our Milo carton range, where we aim to drive our sustainable packaging and CSR efforts apart from branding. As the pioneer of recyclable paper clusters in the region, we continued to find new ways to reduce plastic waste and educate Malaysians on sustainability.

In 2025, we rolled out a packaging change that amplified the messaging of our biggest sustainability campaign yet—Milo Energy for Good. In collaboration with a popular local artist, we strived to inspire consumers by showing the impact of recycling the very carton they are drinking out of.

I managed this project end-to-end and worked with every department of the company from manufacturing to sales, to launch this collaboration.

Leveraging the collaborator’s platforms, we also garnered more than >5million views across social media.

Fostering a safe and conducive environment for students

Building on Milo’s 13 years of sustainability efforts, which turned used beverage cartons into roofs and doors made from PolyAl recycled material for underprivileged communities, we launched an extended campaign—Milo Energy for Good. This campaign expands the use of recycled PolyAl material, transforming it into sports equipment and school furniture.

In 2025, we targeted 300 schools in underprivileged areas and flood-prone areas across Malaysia. With the support of the Ministry of Education, students will compete to recycle used beverage cartons, which will be transformed into sports equipment, tables, and chairs made from recycled PolyAl material that they can redeem for their schools!
